ROBIN MCKELVIE

Hi, I've been putting the rave back into travel for over 20 years, penning over 30 books and 1,000s of articles across five continents for the likes of the Australian, Times, Telegraph, Wanderlust, Scotsman and Wanderlust. Since I embarked on my first big adventure - 15,000km by train from Edinburgh to Hong Kong - I've ventured to over 100 countries. I’ve survived eating puffer fish and being almost eaten by whale sharks, plus the odd emergency landing. I'm as at home lapping it up in a fluffy robe at The Pen as I am hunkered down in a bothy after an epic day battling through my favourite mountains in the world in my native Scotland. Scotland is my big love, but I've very soft spots for Croatia, Slovenia, Portugal, the Baltics and pretty much every European city, bar Birmingham. I’m based on the outskirts of Edinburgh and split my time between travelling around every nook and cranny of Scotland – genuinely the most remarkable country I have ever been to – and forays further afield. If you are looking for someone who genuinely loves travel - after a long haul flight I seldom leave an airport until I've checked out the departure board - I'm here to help. Slainte!
