I enjoy a pint of the black stuff in Dublin as much as the next man and I’m impressed even as a Scot by the wild Atlantic western fringes of Ireland.
What many people don’t realise is that an altogether different Ireland awaits, one of Viking warriors and mysterious monks, amongst the rolling hills and rugged coastlines south of Dublin. I went out to cover this other side of the Emerald Isle for The Times. I hope you enjoy reading about it as much as I did exploring it with an old Scottish friend who now lives out there.
